he Clinic for Pre-anesthetic Control and Post-operative Care is open daily (9.00-14.00) on the 2nd floor in the Anesthesia Department near the operating room by a Specialist Anesthesiologist.

The Clinic for Pre-anesthetic Control and Post-operative Care handles:

• Pre-operative check of the next day’s regular surgical schedule
• Pre-operative check of critically ill patients.

The preoperative check-up is also attended by the anesthesiology residents under the supervision of the specialist.

The Clinic aims to provide equitable and safe perioperative care for all surgical patients of every surgical specialty of the Theagenion Hospital.

More specifically, the Clinic offers:

• The detailed preoperative evaluation of the clinical condition of patients and the early identification of potential risks that may occur during anesthesia and surgery.
• The choice of the appropriate anesthetic technique (general anesthesia, central neuraxial blocks, peripheral nerve blocks, combination of these techniques, sedation), taking into account the severity of the operation.
• The provision of instructions on patient preparation both to the patient and to the medical and nursing staff.
  The postoperative monitoring of patients and care for the management of acute postoperative pain.
• The continued provision of support and care of the patient in the hospital ward, if necessary, until the patient is fully recovered.
