About the department

The Gynecological Oncology Department is located on the 5th floor of the hospital. It has 20 beds which are divided into double, triple and six-bed rooms.

The Gynecological Oncology Clinic serves patients from multiple regions of the country from Central, Western and Eastern Macedonia, as well as from Thessaly, Epirus and the islands of the Northeastern Aegean.

The department also has 4 positions for medical residents.

Special Units

The Gynecological Clinic claims the operation of special units. These are the Gynecological Oncology Council and the Department of Preventive Control. In addition, a colposcopy unit is being staffed for immediate commencement of its activity.

Activities

The gynecological oncology department carries out regular weekly and evening outpatient clinics. Its clinical activities include transvaginal ultrasound, Pap smear (Pap-Test) and biopsies of the external genital organs and vagina/cervix where necessary. In addition, scientific courses are held between the doctors of the department sometimes every month. Finally, as far as surgeries are concerned, the clinic performs mostly oncological surgeries. Open operations (laparotomy) and transvaginal operations are performed. Also hysteroscopic operations are performed when medically necessary and followed by laparoscopic operations.

Regular Outpatient Clinics every Monday – Wednesday 9am – 3pm

Evening clinics every Tuesday and Thursday from 15pm
