Endocrinology

About the department

The Endocrinology Department is the reference center for endocrine gland cancers in Northern Greece since its establishment in 1995. The main axes of medical care served by the Endocrinology Department are summarized as follows:

1. The follow-up of patients with endocrine cancers (thyroid, adrenal, parathyroid, and neuroendocrine tumors) in special clinics.
2. The follow-up of oncological patients with malignancies of various organs presenting with endocrine diseases and endocrine complications due to their oncological treatments
3. The evaluation of patients with findings of suspected endocrine malignancy, after a referral from their attending endocrinologist

The outpatient clinics of the Endocrinology Department are located on the first floor of the hospital and are open daily.

The Endocrinology Department has 9 dedicated beds in two wards on the sixth floor of the hospital for the treatment of patients with serious endocrinological diseases. An ultrasound machine is installed within the department for the performance of thyroid biopsies by the doctors of the department.

All the Endocrinologists of the Department are members of Greek and European Societies (EEE, ETA, ESE, ENEA, ENETS), and the monitoring of patients is done according to international guidelines.
