There is specialization in the diagnosis and treatment of malignant solid tumors, support of complications of antineoplastic therapies, treatment of acute and urgent problems in oncology, follow-up of neoplastic patients after their treatments, investigation of hereditary burden of malignancies, prevention of malignancies, etc. The physicians and nursing staff of the Department are highly specialized in the field of Clinical Oncology. All modern diagnostic and therapeutic approaches, modern antineoplastic therapies (chemotherapies, immunotherapies, monoclonal antibodies, biological agents, targeted therapies, etc.) are used. In cooperation with the Radiotherapy and other pathology and surgery departments and in the context of the daily Oncology Councils, common and individualized therapeutic strategies are formulated. The physicians of the Department continuously participate in Greek and International Oncology Conferences and are informed through educational and post-educational procedures and bibliographic reports. The Department participates in international research protocols and collaborates with other Oncology Societies for joint research projects.

Since 2000, the C’ Department of Clinical Oncology and Chemotherapy has been successfully organizing the Annual Postgraduate Seminar in Clinical Oncology, which is attended by prominent medical personalities from the wider field of Oncology and Research from all over Greece.
The Director of the Department as President and the members of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Cancer Research Society organized the first 3 Panhellenic Annual Cancer Research Conferences (2018, 2019, 2020) in which all the cancer research centers of Greece participated.
